Then Amaziah said to Amos, "Go, you seer, flee away to the land of Judah and there eat bread and there do your prophesying! But no longer prophesy at Bethel, for it is a sanctuary of the king and a royal residence." Then Amos replied to Amaziah, "I am not a prophet, nor am I the son of a prophet; for I am a herdsman and a grower of sycamore figs. But the LORD took me from following the flock, and the LORD said to me, 'Go, prophesy to my people in Israel.'"
-Amos 7:12-15 (NASB)

Woe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and it was your fathers who killed them. So you are witnesses and approve the deeds of your fathers; because it was they who killed them, and you build their tombs.
-Luke 11:47-48 (NASB)
Ever wonder why there's nothing much about that whole "Pope" thing in the bible? Are organized religions missing the point by espousing a set of standards that are resistant to criticism and change? Rick Warren is urging his readers to let others be the judge of their spiritual truth. Well, how about you judge that for yourself, as you should do with any so-called truth? Our favorite Reason Driven author, Bob Price, stops by once again; this time to chat about how cool it is to be have intellectual honesty and growth...and how uncool it is, after your dad kills him, to build your prophet a fancy tomb. Maybe you could have said something before your dad killed him, I don't know. Just a thought.
